To have correct knowledge about Goryeo‘s history in the 13-14th centuries, it is also necessary to understand the relationship between Great Mongol State, an empire that was ruling East Asia at that time, and Goryeo. Current studies on the history of Goryeo's later period within academic circles of Korea are either limited to the internal affairs of the kingdom, or do not sufficiently refer to results of the studies on the history of Mongol Dynasty. This book contains discussions made by scholars in Korea, China and Japan - those who study the history of Mongol Dynasty - after they had reviewed research topics together. It is a meaningful achievement made by this book through studying Goryeo-Mongol Empire relations history that this book has explored the possibility of interdisciplinary cooperation between researchers of Mongol history and of Goryeo history. Of course, this book cannot meet our expectation as it only deals with part of the Mongol Empire. In terms of the comparative study of history, this book lacks a lot in examining the characteristics of the rule and interference in each region of Eurasia under the Mongol Empire, which has made the book insufficient in dealing with the overall nature of Goryeo-Mongol Empire relations. However, this book has done its role as it has laid a foundation for historians from different countries to gather together and study the universal and peculiar natures in each region under the Mongol Empire during the 13th and 14th centuries.
