On May 21 (Thu), the Foundation Resource Center held the “Our Foundation Neighborhood Bookstore” event together with local residents.

The event was organized to introduce the Foundation Resource Center to the local community in a more approachable way and to strengthen the role of the Foundation as a public institution that communicates with citizens by sharing its resources and research achievements.

Using a book truck, the Resource Center displayed and exhibited around 300 books, allowing visitors to freely take books of their choice. The distributed materials consisted of unregistered donated books and selected Foundation publications available for public use, providing local residents with an opportunity to naturally engage with the Resource Center and the Foundation’s published content.

In addition, a small exhibition related to the Foundation’s key research topics — including responses to historical distortions by China and Japan and the protection of sovereignty over Dokdo — was presented to introduce the Foundation’s research outcomes and historical content to citizens in a more accessible and friendly manner. The event also featured a subscription event for the Foundation’s YouTube channel and an on-site prize giveaway, drawing active participation and positive responses from visitors.

More than simply a book-sharing event, this occasion served as an opportunity for the Foundation Resource Center to become a more open space for local residents and to expand its connection with the community. The Foundation will continue to contribute to the local community by expanding public access to the Resource Center and operating community-linked programs that encourage communication and the sharing of knowledge and resources with local residents.
