Academic Workshop on International Laws Related to the History of Korea and Japan.

On December 5, 2006, the Academic Workshop on International Laws Related to the History of Korea and Japan was held in the Foundation’s grand conference room. The theme of the conference, “The Legal Issues of Confronting Postwar Responsibilities for Peace in Northeast Asia,” and a variety of presentations by experts in diverse fields elicited lively debate. The following is a list of invited speakers.

Session 1

- Professor Lee Keun-Gwan (Seoul National University): “A Study of the Japan-Korea Annexation Treaty from the Perspective of International Law”

- Professor Kim Boo Chan (Cheju National University) “A Study of Local Voting Rights of Korean Residents of Japan

- Professor Park Pae Keun (Pusan National University): “Reconsideration of the Theory of Nullification of the Individual Right of Claim under the 1965 Korea-Japan Agreement”

Session 2

- Professor Kim Chang Rok (Kyungbook University): “Reconsideration of the Legal Investigation into the Issue of Comfort Women for the Japanese Military”

- Professor Yi Jang-hui (Hankuk University of Foreign Studies) “International Legal Investigation into Japan’s Responsibility for the War”
