The Foundation Supports Special Documentary, 

“Suto(Prosecution Policy), Great History of Defense”

YTN broadcast “Suto, Great History of Defense,” a special documentary about the day of the March 1st Independence Movement and produced under the Foundation’s sponsorship, aired on March 2, 2019. The Ulleungdo Suto during the Joseon period was an institution through which the central government sent officers to manage and defend Ulleungdo. The documentary follows the Suto system during the Joseon period, and records related to Suto officers, while looking into people’s awareness about Dokdo and Ulleungdo during the Joseon Dynasty. The documentary reveals, through various data, the fact that Joseon continuously dispatched Suto officers to the islands, and the fact that Joseon managed both Ulleungdo and Dokdo as Joseon’s own land. Narratives related to inspectors and Suto officers who had produced outstanding achievements, such as Lee Gyu-won and Jang Han-sang, are quite impressive.
